Gretta left.
Cam died.
Tim lost the plot.
In their short but bright career they released three CDs, toured Australia three times, appeared on TV after a couple of times, were interviewed on Triple J and for their photo in Rolling Stone. They supported Siouxsie Sioux, the Cruel Sea, Nick Cave, Hoodoo Gurus, Buffalo Tom, the Lemonheads, the Clouds, Ed Kuepper and Kim Salmon. They also performed at the Big Day Out. The band won numerous WAMIs and when they ran their own gigs, crowds of over 400 people weren’t unusual.
There was Cam and his thunderstorm drums. There was Gretta and her chills-down-the-spine voice and Tim struggling fiercely with his guitar.
Arrogant. Controversial. EXCITING!!! Sex, drugs and rock n roll. The Beads attacked your pleasure centres.”
